The Wedding Tent, The Brides and Grooms table, The Food..And the last one in the list and the smallest budget left will be for the Wedding Cakes. With the small amount left and yet your desire of having Wedding Cake fits for a princess sounds very impossible. If you low in budget this is what we are suggesting. Go for faux wedding cakes. Wedding cakes out of dummy cakes. Which means they are not edible cakes. Made from Polisterine/Styrofoam but covered with fondant. Look as beautiful and stunning as the original cakes. Infact better outcome and presentation in our hot weather. For the cutting cake ceremony, we will slot a slice of original cakes for the bride and groom to feed each other.

For the rest of the guests, it is an option of 50 decorated slices of cakes or 50 pieces of tiny cupcakes.

Hoooray!! School Holidays are over. Phewwww.. what a relief to some of us. But for some of us, hoho.. lots of buns to be bake. Muffins and mini pizzas..

Going through the price of baking ingredients. Wow! each of them is increasing. In varied ways. Some on few cents and some can reached RM2.00. The next thing that I need to go through is my product pricing list. Should I increase my price or not? Yeah.. even electricity bill is increasing. No choice so is gas oven cost.

Walked into Artificial flowers and deco shop. I saw lot and lots of Bunga Telur. Bunga Telur are beautifully hand worked of making a stalk of flower out of bamboo stick. Yupp that bamboo stick that we use to screw the prawns and such for BBQ. If you want a pretty one, it is RM5.00 each. The simplest one is about RM1.80. And the outdated ones about 85cents each.

Come to think of it.. plus the eggs, additional 30-40cents each. Ouch.. My cupcakes and muffins sounds cheaper. The higher the price the bigger size you'll get. Not only that, you can opt to brownies. With RM5.00, you can get a bag pf goodies from us. A bag contains muffin/cupcake/brownies, candies/sweets/lollipops and a container/pack of any types of kerepeks (Plain/Salty/Hot)

Back to the wedding cake, couples need to decide. Why do you want the wedding cake?

A romantic and touching love story behind this cake. Out of sudden, I had the idea of making a gazebo ontop of the cake. In fact from the very beginning of sketching the idea, I was so obsessed with a bird cage. Since I could't find a petite birdcage then the idea turned to a gazebo. With a minimal time left, there was no way for a gumpaste gazebo. So, i turn to rocky gazebo. Yuppp... u can eat the gazebo. it made from those rocky sticks. Chocolate flavor. When we send the cakes and the MC was reading the couple's love story, I was touched. It was a childhood love. Separated. And met again few years later. A long lost love.. just like waiting her to come back under Gazebo Cinta.

Dan rufles unggu menghiasi kaki kek teatas. Tngkat kedua dan yang paling bawah dibiarkna kosong.. dihiasi bunga2 unggu dipenjuru kek dan corak ringkas menghiasi kepolosan warna putih.

I was so touched by this order. She placed her order after she saw my 1001 cerita hantaran cake. Anyway, my policy that there shouldn't be a look- alike cake. There shouldn't be a double. Therefore we created 1001 version 2011. 2011 with bigger and stunning roses. Lots of rossetes. Couldn't put much flowers. Kept fighting with weather and humidity. And of course..I could not give the same, as ingredients prices increased. A bit here and there.. became a lot difference. Here's 1001 version 2011

A gentle reminder, to those who wish to place order on 1001 versions. Please bear in mind, this cake is covered with cornelli lace. And definitely bunch of roses. Therefore, it is very impossible to write wordings on the cake. Even the cake sides are full with flowers and decorative borders and lines.

A promise to a friend, that I would give the best for her brother's engagement cupcakes.
I love to try new things. And found this flower while surfing the net. How simple it is. Still with the same 5 petal rose flower cutter. Lil bit curl with the tools. And put them in the rite eggs casing as a mold. This sweet blossoms as the border. And tiny roses in the middle. Playing with variety of red to pink colors. Just simple red flowers on white. Look stunning aren't they.

Back to big sis. Old memories of so chocolaty good choc moist cake with ganache from Imbi Cake House in Seremban. It was really Wow! A big Wow. For RM5 in the year of late 80's. The choc cake that can make you drool. So, I created my own version of choc moist but definitely with my Ultimate Choc Cake. And plenty.. and heaps of choc cream fillings and gananche frosting.... A lil touch here and there..

It was a very hectic day. So nya this Choc cake memang tangkap muat.
And Pn Ija Wan Zain.. so sorry dear, you have to wait till 2am for your orders...

My love the purple but violet... well that's the direct translation... But we the Malaysian alway accept violet is in purple family... Anyway it was also base from Indonesian Sinetron. What ever.. but this is the wedding cake. I injured my thumb. Therefore I couldn't decorate as close as the original idea..

As-salam & Hello World...

I received an order via sms asking me for a box of cuppies. She said it was for a birthday celebration and for a girl. She was also asking for delivery. I said that Sweet Treats offered delivery service. It was for today 12th October 2010.

I told her, delivery will be made only after 8pm. She called asking my whereabout. she was anxiously waiting for the cake and she claimed they are waiting for the cake. The truth I didn't know she gonna have it the party that very nite. Anyway, quite tough to find her house even though it was rite in front our own eyes.

When she greeted me, I was so touched. She was in confinement. Gave birth a week ago. meaning she was just return from hospital when she placed the order. Imagine, trying hard to get the cuppies. I told her to stop and wait, I personally brought the cake to her dining table. She asked for delivery charges, since it was just a few blocks away from my daughter's tution center. I told her it was FOC. When she smiled with pain drawn all over her face, I was relief.

Make Me Happy or Pick Me Up

Some say... Make Me Happy. Some say.. Pick Me Up.. Italian says Tiramisu. Yupp this cheesy and creamy rich Tiramisu. And finally today, I made myself from scratch....

200gm whipping cream

250gm cream cheese at room temperature.

30ml fresh @ uht Milk

80gm icing Sugar

18-20 sponge biscuits @ Saviordi @ ladyfingers

170ml instant coffee (I used 2in1 white coffee)

Cocoa powder for sprinkling.

30gm shaved chocolate for decoration

Strawberries if you like.

Cara membuatnya

1. Beat whipped cream till fluffy.

2. In another bowl beat cream cheese till soft.

3. Masukkan susu dan gula. Putar lagi hingga ringan

4. Campurkan whipping cream dengan dengan cream cheese, kacau rata

5. Celupkan biskut ke dalam air kopi. Susun beberapa keping dalam mangkuk kaca

6. Ratakan separuh campuran krim

7.Ayak serbuk koko diatasnya. Ulang langkah 5 hingga 7 sehingga habis biskut dan krim

8. Hiaskan dengan strawberries..

Simple Sponge Cake

Ingredients

3 eggs
1/2 cup castor sugar or superfine sugar
2/3 cup self-rising flour

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8 or 9 inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whip together the eggs and castor sugar until fluffy. Fold in flour. Pour into the prepared pan.
Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top of the cake springs back when lightly pressed. Cool in the pan over a wire rack.

For My Love, On Your Birthday...

She called me few months back. Asking for 23pcs of cuppies. I told her, I di not cater for 23pcs. It must be 25pcs box. Then she asked me again whether Sweet Treats is providing delivery service and I told her that we do. Then there was a long silence.

Fourth-night ago, she sent me a sms asking me about the cuppies. And she placed and order of 25pcs box of size 'S'. To be delivered to her boyfriend who is working in Klang. We did handled a lot of surprise delivery...

For this occasion, I tend to try out another new recipe..

Yellow Cake Recipe

281g Cake Flour

2tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

227g butter

400g sugar

4 eggyolks

2tsp vanilla

240ml milk

4 eggwhites

METHOD

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F; and line 2 x 9" round or one 12" cake pans with parchment or wax circles.

2. Sift cake flour, baking powder and salt.

3. In another bowl with a mixer, cream butter and sugar together for about 2 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, mixing it in after addition of each. Add in the vanilla.

4.Stir the flour mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Scrape down the sides and beat for another minute.

5.Beat the eggwhites in another bowl until soft to medium peaks. Make sure bowl and whisk are clean and grease free. Fold half the eggwhites to the batter to temper it. Then fold in the rest of the eggwhites.

6.Pour batter in prepared cake pans and bake for approx. 45 minutes for the 9" cake pan or 60 minutes for the 12" pan. The cake is ready when an inserted wooden skewer or cake tester comes out clean or when cake springs back when lightly pressed with a finger.

7.Let the cake cool in pans for about 10 minutes. Loosen the sides with a knife or metal spatula and invert to a metal rack. Invert again to another rack to prevent the cake from splitting.

A friend of mine asking me to make cuppies for her dad's 75th birthday. She thought of having 75 cuppies. Ideas.. the ideas were uncertain. Dad loves Golf. Dad is a doctor. Dad is a loving dad an granpa. Hmmphhhhh...

So , I suggested her... 75cuppies and the theme "75 Great Years". Dad gonna have his golf, his career and his loving family all in one. And she asked for not so sweet cuppies. My Ultimate Choc is definitely yes.. But I need to find more not so sweet cakes recipe.. My choices are strawberries and lemon.

Homemade Strawberry Cake

Adapted from Paula Deen’s Hummingbird Cake

Nonstick vegetable spray

All-purpose flour, for pans
3 cups self-rising flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cup pureed strawberries, strained*
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon zest (2 tbsp of lemon juice)
4 large eggs, beaten
red food coloring**

Directions:

- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spray and flour three 8-by-2-inch round cake pans, tapping out excess flour; set aside.
- Prepare the cake batter; in a large bowl, stir to combine self-rising flour, sugar, oil, pureed strawberries, vanilla, lemon zest, and eggs.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans, smoothing with an offset spatula. Bake, rotating pans halfway through, until the tops spring back when gently pressed with your fingertips, 26 to 28 minutes.
- Transfer pans to a wire rack to cool 10 minutes. Invert cakes onto wire rack. Re-invert cakes and let them cool completely, top sides up.
- Prepare the cream cheese frosting (recipe below); frost as desired and refrigerate until ready to serve.

* You can use fresh or frozen strawberries. If you use frozen, let them defrost on a cookie sheet. Then place in a food processor and pulse until pureed. Run through a medium-sized strainer to remove the seeds. If you have some extra strawberries, try whipping up a quick batch of strawberry scones!

** While I did manage to avoid using red colored gelatin, I did add some food coloring to achieve that perfectly pink color. If you don’t care about getting the pink color, feel free to leave it out. I used about 5 drops, but you should add them one at a time until you achieve the color you are looking for.

Lemon Cake

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil shopping list
6 egg yolks
3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon zest
6 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
3/4 cup white sugar
For Filling
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 1/2 cups prepared lemon flavor instant pudding and pie filling

How to make it
- 1. For Cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and 1/2 c sugar.
- 3. Add oil, egg yolks, water and lemon rind and beat with electric mixer until smooth.
- 4. In a small bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until peaks form.
- 5. Gradually add 3/4 c sugar and beat until peaks are very stiff and shiny.
- 6. Fold in 1/3 of egg whites to batter, then quickly fold in remaining whites until no streaks remain.
- 7. Pour batter into ungreased 10" tube pan.
- 8. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes or until tests done.
- 9. Invert cake and cool completely in pan.
- 10. Remove cake from pan.
- 11. For filling: Beat whipping cream to stiff peaks and fold in lemon filling.
- 12. Chill until stiff.
- 13. Slice cake horizontally into 3 equal layers.
- 14. Fill layers with 1/3 cup of filling.
- 15. Spread rest of filling on top layer.
- 16. Decorate with lemon slices

As-salam and hello world..

I was honored when a friend of mine put her trust on me to deliver a 3 tier wedding cake for her lil sis wedding function.

When she called me, I was not fully awake. I just mumble few ideas that suits most brides. Then she mention this " My sis is lil bit different from other ladies. Some flowers should be okay". This sentence keep on playing in my mind that made me to have the 'Wedding Ideas' page. It was specially meant for her. With the song 'Tercipta Untukku' keep on playing in my mind. I browsed for few ideas that suits the bride's personality..

This cake was posted in cakecentral.com. So since the wedding theme colour is maroon, I threw few ideas to suit her wedding theme. But her sis said the bride wanted just like the photo.

I did wrong calculation. Wrong size cakes. Wrong size cake board. I couldn't fit the exact flower arrangement. Time ticking and I still need to deliver the cake before the function started at 8.30pm. My dear fren was not around. I could not explain much. left the cake knife. Went to buy alternative knife. I was late, they had the 'solat jemaah'. and again I could not explain to her again. So I sent her a SMS, thanked her for her mom invitation and send her my apology that I could not deliver as what as the bride wished for...

Then I told him I'm at the main road of the Kampung. And he gasped in a real shocked. He's one of my so called uncle. Related thru my granma, mother's side.

Hmmphh... so many being left. So much to upload. I really appreciate and thanked those who really tried the Ultimate Choc Recipe. It'll be marvelous if you use chocolate filling. Yummy yum yum. It really melts in your mouth.

The original owner of the recipe did mention, the cake should be perfect as room temperature even if it is just out from fridge. One of my client did that, and amazingly the cuppies just as good as freshly baked. For those who needs further info of the 1 Cup of coffee. This is the type that I used. 1 sachet for 1 - 1 1/2 cup. It will give you the best results. Especially in taste. Change to others according to your liking.

1 for 1 or 1 and 1/2 cup of coffee. And it must be hot.

KOPI 'O' IN SACHET WITHOUT SUGAR

In Malaysia it is norm to have 2in1 ( Coffee/Tea with sugar) or 3in1(Coffee/Tea with Sugar & Creamer)

Malaysia school holidays has just begun. It is fiesta time in Malaysia. Everywhere, you'll find Malay weddings. Especially over the weekends. Not only weddings, there are 'kenduri's.

When there is wedding, there'll be 'hantaran'. Exchange of trays of gifts from both bride's and groom's family. And a 'Hantaran' Cake or Cupcakes is a must. Usually fondant cake or cupcakes is the best choice. But some opt for buttercream frosting and fondant deco. This school holiday wasn't a good one for me. It comes together with rainy days and nites. I didn't prepare much roses fondant this time. But I totally focussed on using the Roses mould for chocolate. Got it from ICCA.

Alhamdulillah. My plan just nice and rite on time. Well, guess I have to raise fund and get an aircond for my production centre cum class area.

Thought of doing Squire's Kitchen but thinking of how petite the cutter was, I opt to PME at Sugrflours. It was so far away in Bangi and I had to use the KTM Komuter to commute there. Leaving Padanga Jawa abt 8.27am and reaching Sugarflours 10 minutes before class begin. It was 5 days class but it was so worth every cents that I spent.

Sugarpaste is also known as Fondant. While Gumpaste is also known as Mexican Paste. Learn how to use the tools and new techniques. There are so many tools available in the market. So many well-known brands. Such as Patchwork Cutter, Holly Products, Sugarflair. There are lusters powder and many more.

What ever it is, you must have passion. Cake decorating is an art. You have to adore and fall in love with it then everything comes naturally. Enjoy and have fun... While practice and practice will give you perfections.

Satu Kek Hantaran, 1001 Cerita.

Sebiji kek hantaran berwarna putih dihiasi lingkaran pink dan bunga2 berwarna pastel. Sebiji kek yang amat mencabar. It is very challenging. Especially when the base fondant is purely white. Pastel color on white. Like Pink , Light purple , Lavender and such.

I had roses with all those colours. But when I was piping the Pink 'Corneli Lace'. My mind becoming blur. It was in the middle of late night. Nope.. It was early wee hour. I just didn't know what to do next. I just pipe lines of Light purple . Creating Lace effect on the cake. I have to forgo my earlier plan. It was impromptu. I just follow what ever sketched on my mind. Pasting pink blossoms and roses.

Bouquet of pastel colour roses. Weather was not so good. Panas membahang. The heat was unbearable even in those early hours. My Royal Icing hardly being hard. Forcing me to follow my instinct. Dah tak terday nak fikir lagi dah. Cucuk jer. Asalkan manis mata memandang. Colour, balanced. Done.

Sebiji kek menjaringkan satu rantaian. I had an order few weeks ago. Cupcakes for hantaran. Was cancelled then. Okaylah.. Tak de rezeki.. Then I received this call. It was 7 days ago. Since I have quite ample time. (Padahal dapur berserabut gila. Tengah buat extension dapur) I took the challenge. Saya terima tempahan dengan syarat kena bayar penuh. Deposit cash to my MBB Account. Tungu punya tunggu. Dah masuk Isnin. i have to start making flowers. Rainy seasons and with my kitchen yang agak panas berbahang, tak berapa bagus untuk fondant. I kena siapkan awal, letak bawah kipas . Biar dia mengeras.

Duit tak masuk2 juga. Then I received a call from my cousins's daughter. She was supposed to pay for the cake. Biasalah, orang2 kita kan. Saya sponsor kek hantaran awak. nanti awak pulak tolong saya. Tak gitu. Nak jadi cerita, she was warded and scheduled for a minor operation. Pula dah. Tak pe lah. So i informed the Girl yg buat tempahan. I'll send the cake to your house and ambil payment sekali. She sent me sms, "Payment Done, A friend of mine will collect from you, tomorrow morning".

And this morning, the Girl who cancelled the Hantaran Cuppies called. I was wondering. Why did she call me? I could not return call as my credit finitto. I was logged in in Maybank2U when she arrived. I was surprised when she said she came to collect the Hantaran Cake. And it was for the very girl whom she wanted to sponsor the Hantaran Cuppies before.

What a small world. Kalau dah rezeki memang tak ke mana... Tapi satu kek ni, macam-macam ceritanya. banyak lagi yang berlaku dalam menyediakan kek ni. Tapi biarlah...

The Ultimate Cocolate Cake Recipe....

As I have mentioned earlier on in my blog. I dare not to bake Malaysian favorite Choc Moist. Coz it taste bitter..

As I surf around, looking for other option for my Mud Cake, I found this. Mud Cake is still top in my list as it is very rich with choc. It is so Chocolaty good. But this ultimate cake, have won my heart coz it is so easy and quick. And there is no need to use the mixer. Or you gonna spoil the cake.

INGREDIENTS

2 cups (250 g) cake flour
1 tsp. (6 g) salt
2 tsp. (10 g) baking soda
1 tsp. (5 g) baking powder
3/4 cup (69 g) unsweetened cocoa
2 cups (400 g) sugar
3/4 cup (180 ml) vegetable oil
1 cup(240 ml) hot coffee
1 cup (240 ml) milk
2 large eggs
1 tsp. (4 g) vanilla

METHOD

Preheat the oven to 350°F; and line 2 x 9" round cake pans with parchment or wax circles.
Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Add the hot coffee, oil and milk and mix it for about 2 minutes.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the eggs and vanilla. Beat for 2 more minutes. This chocolate cake recipe has a very liquid batter.
Pour batter in prepared cake pans and bake for approx. 30 minutes. The cake is ready when an inserted wooden skewer or cake tester comes out clean or when cake springs back when lightly pressed with a finger.
Let the cake cool in pans for about 10 minutes. Loosen the sides with a knife or metal spatula and invert to a metal rack. Invert again to another rack to prevent the cake from splitting.

This is the original recipe which use a 9"x 2"baking pan. But I made cupcakes. And they just beautiful, perfect and moist.

Malaysian Caramel Pudding

It was my sis-in-law b'day. Really short of time to bake b'day cuppies for her. It was only pudding or jelly that can fit in.

A twist of Mexican Flan. Taste almost the same. But I guess this one less sweet but yummy. Tested and proven. Instead of baking in the oven with a tray of hot water, simply steam them. Instead of ramkins, I used round 10" baking pan.

Ingredients:

2 cans F&N Evaporated Milk
175g brown sugar
20g caster sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence

Method:

1. Caramelize brown sugar and add a very little water. Stir and pour caramel into a heatproof glass dish and set aside.
2. Beat caster sugar, eggs and sieve mixture. Add F&N Evaporated Milk and vanilla essence. Stir well.
3. Pour mixture into the glass dish and steam on high heat until it set.
4. When done, invert onto serving dish and serve hot or cold.

This recipe is definitely to keep...

My First Attempt ....

I'm so in love with my Wallow in the Mud. The rich chocolate texture that you can feel in every bite. However, I could not be so self-centered. Definitely there is somebody who does not like chocolate. I decided to have a try on Choc Fudge. Plenty of milk. 360ml of Milk. It is moist..almost liked our local favorite choc moist. A lil bit bitter as the baking soda and baking powder, both 1 teaspoon.

I'm out of meringue powder. How am I gonna do? But there's plenty of white choc in stock. White candy melt from Wilton. I found these 2 recipes for White Choc Glaze. One from Cooks.com and the other one Our Family Favorite Recipe. One used more milk and portion of white choc and confectioners sugar is the same. The other one is confectioners sugar less then the white choc but it has Grand Marinier and a tablespoon of water. So I combined both and a lil bit of adjustment to suit my taste bud.

White Choc Glaze...

8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped(Wilton Candy Melt)
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
3/4 c. powdered sugar, sifted
3 tbsp. Milk
A pinch of salt

Heat chocolate and butter in top of double boiler over barely simmering water, stirring until melted and smooth. Mix sugar, salt and milk in small bowl until sugar dissolves. Add to chocolate and stir until smooth. Remove from over water and let stand until cool but still pourable.

Remove pan sides from cake. Pour glaze atop cake and spread over top and sides. Refrigerate until set (can be prepared 6 hours ahead).

It has been months I sort of abandoned this blog. Not really. The thing is, my laptop goes wacky all the time. And the moment I wanted to upload images or published the post, they were gone. Arghhhh...

Anyway, Alhamdulillah. Thanks to hubby for lending his. I can update few things before networks poofed again.

There wasn't much orders during Ramadhan. Few things happened and it was right decision for not taking orders. I was quite busy starting from late July till mid of August. Baking and simple deco classes. My graduation for Wilton 2.

I wasn't prepared to be a chef. Even to teach people how to bake and deco. I'm aware that I was very new in this line. For a friend's sake, I just give a try. It was more towards community class. The pay.. so-so.

Sya's Birthday Cake

As promised, I baked 'Wallow In The Mud' for my one and only daughter. The frosting is cocoa buttercream with chocolate essence and chocolate food colouring. This to enhance the taste and the colour of the buttercream. Luckily I had few roses and little flowers in progress for a client's order. I made borders of rossettes. The letterings are fondant cut outs. I tried some of wilton 3 string skills to add a touch of elegance to the cake.

When she return home from school, all I get was 'The cake was so yummy' and a big smile on her face. As her friends claimed that the cake was pretty and sweet. It never occured in my mind to show off but at times just try to make our beloved ones feels happy and proud of themselves.

Hooray... Back to school again. I continue my deco class with Wilton Deco 2 and Wilton Deco 3. Same day different time. Sounds like it so easy, but now I realised it was not as easy as Wilton 1.

Both classes require a lot of patience and passion. Wilton 2, dealing with Royal Icing, under the cooling air conditioned room. Aggghhhhh... it tends to dry so quickly. Where else we have to be very patience to form the flowers. Wilton 3, Royal Icing again and fondant and roses.

Unfortunately for me, it is my darling daughter's birthday this very day. I have promised her a birthday cake for her tomorrow. Class finished at about 5.00pm plus. Then we decided to celebrate her birthday at Burger King in Shah Alam Extreme Park. When I reached home it was nearly 9pm. I was so exhausted. So dengan sedihnya I minta my daughter her favour to postpone her birthday cake to Tuesday. With additional janji lah off course

My hubby's nephew asked for cupcakes. As he was far a way, down south in Johor Bahru, it was quite impossible. So, when his Mom came over to Kuala Lumpur, we baked him some.

We baked a lot actually. We baked for almost everybody. We baked for Mak Long, Kak Nana and hubby, Cik Acit, Auntie Rose, Abg Shahrul, Abg Erwin, Kak Eva, Sya, Bajun, Pitit and Lil Faiz. We baked the XL sizes. We baked SS sizes and Just Nice for Abg Farid and family 16pcs. Vanilla and Wallow in the Mud. I love to stress on my Wallow In The Mud choc cake. I got it from Chockylit. It is not Choc moist. But it is rich with choco flavor. And sweet. And like the mud itself. Not moist bud muddy texture. Where else Choc Moist a lil bit bitter. I realised the measurement for soda bicarb was more than baking soda. This is the reason of bitterness. For all choc moist recipe, we had to put more soda bicarb then baking powder.

Wallow in the Mud. Yupppp sweet. It was my own mistake for not tasting the raw ingredient. The chocolate was bitter sweet chocolate. Hello..... it was BITTER Sweet Chocolate. It never came accross in my mind that BITTER sweet chocolate is actually still very sweet. It taste like Nescafe tarik. You know. The one with full of Ummmphhhh. Its damn thick. Lots of Nescafe and lots of Cap Teko or Susu F&N(the condensed milk brand). Yessss that sweet. So now I have to reduce a lil bit the amount of sugar.

Okay. Enough on the cake. Back to the event... hmm. My niece loves photography. She and her hubby, ahhh what a lovely couple and really meant together. And my cupcakes... they became the victims.... What else. Photo Shoot session. Never thought the cupcakes would look that nice. Anyway, we had a good time, Eating session, photo shoot session, photography class and scuba diving tooo????? So, Nana and hubby thanks for the free shoots and sessions. Sorry ek my pocoyo did a mess here and there.

After Setiawangsa, we headed to Uptown Kota Damansara. Sending my hubby's 8th brother to meet up their eldest brother. All in all I arrived home at about 2.30am on 12th of July 2009. And guesss whatttt......... to be continued...

A Thank You Note. . . .

These cupcakes were ordered by my Aunt. As a thank you note for a friend in the hospital, she claimed. So, I baked the Wallow in the mud choc cake. But I added a little hint of cappuccino.
Decorated it with cappuccino swirls and chocolate rice. Those for the borders. 9 pieces with strawberry frosting and pink roses on top of them.

Wilton Deco 1 - Completed

Alhamdulillah. Thank God. Without me realising it, it is over. Today is my last day for Wilton Deco 1. Our graduation project is to deco a 10" round cake with roses. And to apply techniques that we have learned throughout the class. And message on cake. I baked a strawberry cake. Rich with fresh strawberries. A 4"height cake. Haha... I managed to get the right height this time. But I had to bake double for lil Farisa's Pocoyo choc cake.

I was really out of time. I was rushing for the roses. Eventhough only 10 -12 roses were needed, I had to do more. To get the best 10. My lovely niece asked me for a Jim Jam & Sunny. But I could not find a big pic of them. So.. I asked my ever dearest hubby to ask wether lil cute Pocoyo is acceptable. Lucky me, it was a green light. Sunday morning I rushed to iced the 10" cake at about 7.30am. Then start to iced the Pocoyo's cake and start to decorate it. I did the major one. Since it was time to leave for the class, my hubby and daughter assisted me in final touch up.Just adding hearts and nonpareils. I got to bring the whole family as it was no way to travel here and there. I need to rush to my niece house immediately after the class.

When I reached my class. They have started with drop flowers and stars. And some still continuing their roses. Including me.... hehehe. Then sweet peas. Then ribbons. Then leaf....Then start to decorate the cake. I realised there was a patch on the side of my cake. I tried to smooth it out with spatula soaked in hot water. It didnot help much. So I decorated it with lots and lots of drop flowers. I arranged my roses to form a big 'C'. I need to leave some space for message writting. I made shell borders for the cake with stars at the side. I wrote Happy Birthday Farisa in Green. A real contrast for a peach background and add lil hearts in green icing on empty spaces.

So... congratulation to myself and happy first birthday to my sweet baby Farisa... She's my so called granddaughter you know. What else do you call your niece daughter.... :-)

I believed in energy transfer. Meaning, bila kita sedih, surrounding kita pun sedih. Bila kita happy, surrounding kita pun happy. Sama juga dengan memasak atau membakar. Bila kita ceria, masakan kita atau kek ataupun kuih-muih kita jadi extra sedap. And that's the real secret ingredient.

Bila badan dah letih, jiwa gelisah, my cupcakes did not turn up as it should be. Pertama kali since I start this biz, I did my deco so badly. My clown cupcakes did not look funny at all. Luckily my bear did look like a bear. The rest only hearts. I should do dots, shell and many more. But I did not have the heart to do so. Dalam kelas pun blank jer.

So, it is true. And next time, I will not touch a thing bila hati tak tenang. How good is your cupcake, with this kind of negative energy. It is a total disaster!!!

Broken Hearts

I had my deco class last Sunday. Kebetulan pada hari yang sama Noonee`s Cookies pun terlibat dalam Hari Mesra Rakyat. So, kenalah buatkan cupcakes untuk dia orang. Cupcakes itu adalah sebahagian daripada kursus-kursus yang akan ditawarkan oleh Noonee`s Cookies di Subang Jaya nanti.

Apa lagi, since dah bancuh icing untuk kelas deco, swirlkan sekali atas cupcakes tu. Hasilnya memang mengkagumkan. Icing tu bagai membeku atas cupcakes. Semua sekali 70 biji. Idea dah mula kering. Teringat pula hasil kerja seorang baker dari Australia. Dia buat corak abstract yang simple je. Tapi memang menarik. Tu laa.....konon-konon nak ikut ler gaya minah Aussie tu. Akhirnya corakku kantoi. Hubby ku kata tak lawa lansung. Pasti tak de yang nak beli. Memang pun, aku yang tengok pun tak selera. Saw the broken hearts dari my jumbo hearts sprinklers. Apa lagi, kutepekkan kan jer kat corak abstak yang tak jadi tuuu.

Petang tu, masa habis menegmas... Hubby ku kata... orang kata cupcakes yang terlebih baking soda tu sodap... My broken hearts pun habisss.. Yang pasti the new icing that I learnt, memang sedap.

Never Too Late To Learn

Kita tak pernah terlalu tua untuk menuntut ilmu. Dan kita perlu menuntut ilmu hingga ke liang lahad. I`m counting days to be 36 this year. Tetapi apa yang saya pelajari kini lebih kepada skill dan minat saya. Inilah hari pertama saya menyertai kelas Wilton Decorating Course 1. Terkocoh-kocoh juga pagi tadi, ingatkan terlambat. Rupanya kelas mula pukul 11.00pagi.

Kadang-kadang kita terasa macam kita dah tahu segala. Kita selalu terlupa bahwa tiada yang sempurna di dunia ini, Pasti ada yang lebih baik daripada kita dan yang kurang daripada kita. Kekurangan dan kelebihan ini melengkapkan kita di dalam satu komuniti.

Unfortunately I don`t own a phone camera. I`ll try and get few snaps later in my other 3 classes. Overall, okay. We learned basics in cake deco. Tools required. Buttercream icing recipe. Again, it is a boring class unless you have passion. Tetapi instructor, Soon Ching, memang sporting. Mana tidaknya...the other 6 students dok mengutuk dia. Depan-depan plak tu. Tapi dia maintain jer.
