Here Comes The Rain, There Goes My Flowers

As-salam n hello world.

Malaysia school holidays has just begun. It is fiesta time in Malaysia. Everywhere, you'll find Malay weddings. Especially over the weekends. Not only weddings, there are 'kenduri's.

When there is wedding, there'll be 'hantaran'. Exchange of trays of gifts from both bride's and groom's family. And a 'Hantaran' Cake or Cupcakes is a must. Usually fondant cake or cupcakes is the best choice. But some opt for buttercream frosting and fondant deco. This school holiday wasn't a good one for me. It comes together with rainy days and nites. I didn't prepare much roses fondant this time. But I totally focussed on using the Roses mould for chocolate. Got it from ICCA.

Alhamdulillah. My plan just nice and rite on time. Well, guess I have to raise fund and get an aircond for my production centre cum class area.

PME Professional Diploma in Sugarpaste @ Sugarflours

Finding knowledge and enhanced our skills that is apart of Islamic teaching. As a Muslim, there is no age limit in learning. I believed for always the will be a better and a lesser person than you. And there is nobody is so perfect in this world. God is almighty. We are so unique, so individual than two can be the same but not identical. Just like your fingerprints.

Thought of doing Squire's Kitchen but thinking of how petite the cutter was, I opt to PME at Sugrflours. It was so far away in Bangi and I had to use the KTM Komuter to commute there. Leaving Padanga Jawa abt 8.27am and reaching Sugarflours 10 minutes before class begin. It was 5 days class but it was so worth every cents that I spent.

Sugarpaste is also known as Fondant. While Gumpaste is also known as Mexican Paste. Learn how to use the tools and new techniques. There are so many tools available in the market. So many well-known brands. Such as Patchwork Cutter, Holly Products, Sugarflair. There are lusters powder and many more.

What ever it is, you must have passion. Cake decorating is an art. You have to adore and fall in love with it then everything comes naturally. Enjoy and have fun... While practice and practice will give you perfections.

Satu Kek Hantaran, 1001 Cerita.


Sebiji kek hantaran berwarna putih dihiasi lingkaran pink dan bunga2 berwarna pastel. Sebiji kek yang amat mencabar. It is very challenging. Especially when the base fondant is purely white. Pastel color on white. Like Pink , Light purple , Lavender and such.

I had roses with all those colours. But when I was piping the Pink 'Corneli Lace'. My mind becoming blur. It was in the middle of late night. Nope.. It was early wee hour. I just didn't know what to do next. I just pipe lines of Light purple . Creating Lace effect on the cake. I have to forgo my earlier plan. It was impromptu. I just follow what ever sketched on my mind. Pasting pink blossoms and roses.

Bouquet of pastel colour roses. Weather was not so good. Panas membahang. The heat was unbearable even in those early hours. My Royal Icing hardly being hard. Forcing me to follow my instinct. Dah tak terday nak fikir lagi dah. Cucuk jer. Asalkan manis mata memandang. Colour, balanced. Done.

Sebiji kek menjaringkan satu rantaian. I had an order few weeks ago. Cupcakes for hantaran. Was cancelled then. Okaylah.. Tak de rezeki.. Then I received this call. It was 7 days ago. Since I have quite ample time. (Padahal dapur berserabut gila. Tengah buat extension dapur) I took the challenge. Saya terima tempahan dengan syarat kena bayar penuh. Deposit cash to my MBB Account. Tungu punya tunggu. Dah masuk Isnin. i have to start making flowers. Rainy seasons and with my kitchen yang agak panas berbahang, tak berapa bagus untuk fondant. I kena siapkan awal, letak bawah kipas . Biar dia mengeras.

Duit tak masuk2 juga. Then I received a call from my cousins's daughter. She was supposed to pay for the cake. Biasalah, orang2 kita kan. Saya sponsor kek hantaran awak. nanti awak pulak tolong saya. Tak gitu. Nak jadi cerita, she was warded and scheduled for a minor operation. Pula dah. Tak pe lah. So i informed the Girl yg buat tempahan. I'll send the cake to your house and ambil payment sekali. She sent me sms, "Payment Done, A friend of mine will collect from you, tomorrow morning".

And this morning, the Girl who cancelled the Hantaran Cuppies called. I was wondering. Why did she call me? I could not return call as my credit finitto. I was logged in in Maybank2U when she arrived. I was surprised when she said she came to collect the Hantaran Cake. And it was for the very girl whom she wanted to sponsor the Hantaran Cuppies before.

What a small world. Kalau dah rezeki memang tak ke mana... Tapi satu kek ni, macam-macam ceritanya. banyak lagi yang berlaku dalam menyediakan kek ni. Tapi biarlah...

The Ultimate Cocolate Cake Recipe....

As I have mentioned earlier on in my blog. I dare not to bake Malaysian favorite Choc Moist. Coz it taste bitter..

As I surf around, looking for other option for my Mud Cake, I found this. Mud Cake is still top in my list as it is very rich with choc. It is so Chocolaty good. But this ultimate cake, have won my heart coz it is so easy and quick. And there is no need to use the mixer. Or you gonna spoil the cake.

INGREDIENTS

2 cups (250 g) cake flour
1 tsp. (6 g) salt
2 tsp. (10 g) baking soda
1 tsp. (5 g) baking powder
3/4 cup (69 g) unsweetened cocoa
2 cups (400 g) sugar
3/4 cup (180 ml) vegetable oil
1 cup(240 ml) hot coffee
1 cup (240 ml) milk
2 large eggs
1 tsp. (4 g) vanilla



METHOD
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F; and line 2 x 9" round cake pans with parchment or wax circles.
  • Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the hot coffee, oil and milk and mix it for about 2 minutes.
  • Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the eggs and vanilla. Beat for 2 more minutes. This chocolate cake recipe has a very liquid batter.
  • Pour batter in prepared cake pans and bake for approx. 30 minutes. The cake is ready when an inserted wooden skewer or cake tester comes out clean or when cake springs back when lightly pressed with a finger.
  • Let the cake cool in pans for about 10 minutes. Loosen the sides with a knife or metal spatula and invert to a metal rack. Invert again to another rack to prevent the cake from splitting.
This is the original recipe which use a 9"x 2"baking pan. But I made cupcakes. And they just beautiful, perfect and moist.
